The Times of Israel
Jerusalem-based online newspaper founded in 2012
The Times of Israel is a Jerusalem-based online newspaper founded in February 2012 by the journalist David Horovitz, its founding editor, and his "US-based capital partner" Seth Klarman, the founder of the Baupost Group, who chairs it. It publishes in English, with Hebrew (Zman Yisrael), Arabic, French and Persian editions, and says it "has no partisan political affiliation".Sources:1Wikipedia: The Times of Israel, Wikipedia (source, opens in a new tab)2The Times of Israel: About The Times of Israel, The Times of Israel (source, opens in a new tab)
Media Bias/Fact Check describes it as co-owned by Horovitz and Klarman and funded by advertising. The site hosts a network of partner publications, including US Jewish community papers such as the Pittsburgh Jewish Chronicle, on timesofisrael.com subdomains.Sources:3Media Bias/Fact Check: Times of Israel – Bias and Credibility, Media Bias/Fact Check (source, opens in a new tab)6Pittsburgh Jewish Chronicle (Times of Israel partner site): A synagogue and Jewish-owned shops damaged in French riots, Pittsburgh Jewish Chronicle (Times of Israel partner site), 19 October 2026 (source, opens in a new tab)

Our reading
Editorial assessment by Connect the Dots from 3 stories this outlet covered between 17 Oct 2026 and 22 Oct 2026; updated 24 Oct 2026. Every observation links to the articles it is based on.
Of the three stories we tracked, two ran as wire copy (AP, JTA) rather than its own reporting. Its own Iran piece led with the New York Times report and carried Netanyahu's denial high up; the partner-site JTA piece on the Paris synagogue included the SPCJ's finding that there was no evidence of deliberate targeting.
- Its 22 October story on US-Israeli strike plans against Iran was a staff aggregation of a New York Times report sourced to unnamed US officials. It carried Netanyahu's denial (he called the reports "incorrect") in the first third of the piece, followed by the White House's "all options are on the table" line, and placed Iranian officials' threats to widen targets after that. It used "the Islamic Republic" and "Tehran" for Iran and used "terror" only for Hamas's 7 October attack. - Its 17 October coverage of the French protests was an AP wire in its liveblog (with Reuters contributing), not original reporting. The only voice quoted was the CGT union; there were no government or police statements, no casualty or arrest figures, and the body did not mention far-left or far-right groups or antisemitism. Palestinian flags appeared only in a photo caption. - The 19 October report on the Paris synagogue break-in and Marseille shops was a JTA wire carried on the Pittsburgh Jewish Chronicle, a partner site on a timesofisrael.com subdomain, not the Times of Israel newsroom. It led with the SPCJ's damage report, included the SPCJ's statement that there was no evidence Jewish institutions were deliberately targeted and a synagogue committee member's view that the break-in "primarily points to an attempted theft", and stated without attribution that "Palestinian flags and keffiyas have been a recurring motif in most of the violent protests". Outside left–right raters
For comparison only. Western raters place outlets on a left–right line, which says nothing about whom they favour in a given story or who funds them; our own tally is above.
