CBS News is the news division of the American broadcast network CBS, based at the CBS Broadcast Center in New York City. CBS began regular radio news in 1929. Its parent, Paramount, merged with Skydance Media; the combined company, now Skydance Corporation, is controlled by the Ellison family.Sources:1Wikipedia: CBS News, Wikipedia (source, opens in a new tab)2Wikipedia: Skydance, Wikipedia (source, opens in a new tab)

In July 2025 Paramount paid $16 million to settle Donald Trump's lawsuit over a 60 Minutes interview, and the FCC required an ombudsman as a condition of approving the Skydance merger. In October 2025 Paramount bought The Free Press and named its founder, Bari Weiss, editor-in-chief of CBS News.Sources:1Wikipedia: CBS News, Wikipedia (source, opens in a new tab)

Who it favours

No government, party or politician is documented as its owner, main funder or director.
