Bloomberg News
New York financial news agency, majority-owned by Michael Bloomberg
Bloomberg News is an international news agency founded in 1990 as Bloomberg Business News by Michael Bloomberg and Matthew Winkler. It is a division of Bloomberg L.P., the financial data company behind the Bloomberg Terminal, and is headquartered at Bloomberg Tower in Manhattan, New York, with hubs in London, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta. John Micklethwait has been editor-in-chief since 2015.Sources:1Wikipedia: Bloomberg News, Wikipedia (source, opens in a new tab)
Bloomberg L.P. was founded in 1981 and is majority-owned (about 88%) by Michael Bloomberg, who was mayor of New York City from 2002 to 2013 and sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 2019-20. When he announced that campaign, Micklethwait told staff the newsroom would not investigate Bloomberg or his Democratic rivals while continuing to investigate the Trump administration; the Houston Chronicle stopped using Bloomberg's campaign coverage in response.Sources:1Wikipedia: Bloomberg News, Wikipedia (source, opens in a new tab)2Wikipedia: Bloomberg L.P., Wikipedia (source, opens in a new tab)3Wikipedia: Michael Bloomberg, Wikipedia (source, opens in a new tab)
