> Student leader Neha Bora told a magistrate she would not sign a Delhi Police peace bond, while the Supreme Court's inquiry panel on the July Jantar Mantar clashes set a public sitting for 29 October.

All India Students' Association (AISA) president Neha Bora appeared before a special executive magistrate at Mandir Marg on 24 October, a day after the Delhi High Court dismissed her challenge to a police notice, and said she would not sign a peace bond. "Whose peace am I being asked to keep?" she asked at a press meet at the CPI(ML) Liberation office, PTI reported. [1][2]

The notice, issued on 17 October under Section 126 of the BNSS, asked her to show cause why she should not execute a Rs 10,000 personal bond with one surety. It followed her detention on 16 October as she joined a "Lehra Do Tiranga" march, part of protests demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's resignation over the voter-roll revision. According to The Tribune, police cite sloganeering at Mandi House, protests near Jantar Mantar despite prohibitory orders and alleged calls to join a Connaught Place demonstration; her lawyer disputes an allegation that she hoisted the national flag without permission. [1][3]

The magistrate handed the defence the material police rely on, as the High Court had directed. Her lawyer Abhik Chimni said the defence would examine it before replying. The Tribune reported she has until 29 October to respond; India TV gave the date as 28 October. [2][3]

Separately, the Supreme Court-appointed High Powered Enquiry Committee led by retired Supreme Court judge R. Subhash Reddy will hold a sitting on 29 October to record evidence about the violence during the Cockroach Janta Party's July protests, including the 20 July march to Parliament. Sources told The Tribune it will examine alleged use of pellet guns, targeted violence, harassment of female protesters, and alleged excessive force and property damage "on both sides". Members of the public can submit complaints in person or through the portal hpec.nic.in, and the court has directed the panel to protect vulnerable witnesses. [4]
